Client-focused Writing

WORKSHOP – Client-focused writing

What does the workshop cover?

Writing is the fundamental tool of a lawyer’s trade. Every day we email clients and colleagues, compose advice, craft reports, publish client briefings and create documents. Whatever the format, writing in a way that is easy for a client to read, understand and act on is the single best way of getting their attention, impressing them and retaining their business. This interactive workshop begins by looking at how to create writing that reflects your client’s priorities. It then takes you through a four-stage process to identify how to structure your writing to get your message across quickly and effectively. Finally, it focuses on how to use straightforward language to cut through complexity and jargon and get straight to the point, so that you communicate with your client in a more commercial and friendlier way.

Who is it for?

The workshop is for lawyers who want to improve their written communication skills. Business professionals who want to improve the clarity, impact, style and structure of their writing in a professional context will also find it useful.

What will I get out of it?

After completing the course, you will be able to:

  • Gain your client’s confidence by producing writing they want to read
  • Plan and structure your writing more effectively so that it is quick and easy for your busy client to absorb and forward to others
  • Give straightforward advice, using clear language to avoid misunderstandings
  • Write quickly, confidently and clearly, saving time for both you and your client
